Class Warfare

John Kerry is probably one of the few people in this world who was born with a bigger silver spoon in his mouth than George W. Bush. Bush will win re-election, institute more government programs, and John Ashcroft will remove what few liberties we still retain. A Democrat will replace him in '08 and will finish us off (using the tools Bush and Ashcroft gave them).

I'm going to vote for the Libertarian, and liberals should feel good about voting for Ralph Nader. I suspect that, as people see how bad both Bush and Kerry are, they will feel free to vote their consciences. I will gladly vote for the Libertarian nominee (Russo or Nolan) even if Bush losses to Kerry by my one vote.

Are Republicans the party of the upper class? Do Democrats spend more government money on the poor - well, they certainly used to. But whose money do they use? Ted Kennedy's? John Kerry's? Nope - the wealthy can afford tax shelters and loopholes, and leave the majority of the economic burden to the middle class.

Democrat politicians can afford to be generous to the poor, because they using OTHER PEOPLE'S money. Charitable giving skyrockets when tax burdens are decreased.

I LOVE public television. But I would love it more if they were NOT using my tax dollars. I don't donate anymore, because I already give to them via my tax burden. Every time I reach for the phone to donate, I remember that PBS lobbies politicians to coercively extract my money.

If the government were to suddenly cease to exist, wouldn't you go out of your way to help your fellow man? Of course YOU would! You are concerned about the other greedy rich people who would not... and they certainly exist. But do you think they are not doing everything in their power NOW to prevent their money from going to those causes?

Is a person who has a billion dollars in a tin can in the back yard rich? I would argue no. They are only "rich" when they spend their money. Spend it on goods, and jobs are created. Give it away, and charities benefit. Rich people are only rich if they spend their money. How they spend it defines who they are... Politicians - government - spend OTHER PEOPLE'S money to gain power over the nation.

I just finished George Orwell's 1984 (I now refer to the Department of Homeland Security as HomeSec). I believe the nature of government HAS BECOME power. Government USES it's power towards it's own ends - more power for the government. People COULD do a hell of a lot more if they didn't have to enrich politicians (and politicians friends) along the way. Why should I believe the government does a better job than people? The current record of wealth distribution (under a VERY socialist President, and after 80 years of Rooseveltism) is worse now than it was when the Dupont's, Morgan's, and Rockefellers roamed the earth.
