Gun Ownership

I believe in Instituting a Vermont style conceal-and-carry law which states that it shall only be illegal to carry a concealed weapon for the purpose of committing a crime. The new law would not permit convicted felons to own or carry firearms and would not change access to purchasing guns. We need to restore to law-abiding citizens the right to carry concealed firearms for lawful purposes.

More liberal conceal and carry laws could have made many of our nations recent shooting  tragedies less costly in human lives.  Dr. Thomas Sowell explains that we live in a society that has criminals feeling safe with the knowledge that their victims are almost certainly unarmed.  It is making Americans easy targets.  It is time level headed, law abiding citizens enable themselves to stop criminals from terrorizing our society.   I encourage Americans who own guns to get a conceal and carry permit, and would introduce legislation repealing laws requiring a permit to carry a weapon.
