Immigration

Iowa's unemployment, until very recently, has been below 2%.  There are more jobs than employees to fill them. Some have said we need to increase the starting wage.  Each time employers increase wages, their competitors do the same, and no new workers come into the state. We can rob workers from other companies, but we can't continue to produce without an influx of workers.

Most of the arguments against immigration regards illegal immigrants. What we need to do is insert some guidelines on how to control  immigration. My suggested controls are as follows:

  1. You may immigrate to this State  as long as you do not accept any type of public assistance, accepting public assistance in the form of health care, food stamps, or welfare will result in immediate deportation.
  2. You must remain gainfully employed, with no more than a 1 month gap in employment.
  3. You must pay income tax on a regular basis in the form of payroll deductions, and file a tax return. Anyone not paying taxes will be deported.
  4. You must be able to speak communicate in English. It is quickly becoming the international language, and if you ever hope to succeed in this country, you will need to be to communicate in English. Persons speaking English should be given accelerated access to work visas.
