Child Care
To me, child care is the responsibility of the parents. Rather than looking for ways to spend tax dollars to improve child care, or increase access to state approved child care, lets reform the tax code so that one parent can stay home to raise the children.I don't delegate this task to the mother, I said one parent, it could just as easily be the father. This is still not always possible. In a single parent home, obviously, one parent cannot stay home while the other works. In many more cases, this is where the Grandparent, or Great Grandparent would hopefully enter the scene. If families lived closer together, and our familial structure was stronger, child rearing problems would all but disappear.
There will still be difficulties in accessing affordable child care for some single parents. But when the number of children in child care are reduced, because our families are strengthened, and our tax code doesn't force both parents to work, many child care slots will be vacated! Eliminate the marriage tax, and remove penalties for child rearing.
